Swiss Play

Play is about both joy and safety. This design proposes a recreational center that doubles as a disaster relief headquarter for the city of Lugano, Switzerland. In this program, play and refuge complement one another. Walking distance from the Piazza Della Forma, the building promotes enjoyable unplanned interactions. The balconies are placed in relation to those of the surrounding neighborhood. The ramps act as extensions of the traditional sidewalks, drawing in passersby and taking them on a spontaneous journey of interaction with both the building and othermembers of the community.
