Aperture Study
Fall 2018

Prompted to investigate two seemingly incompatible building materials, here I explore rammed earth and aluminum. While both materials are of the earth, one is processed to a point where it is unrecognizable from its natural state. This juxtaposition creates a beautiful dialogue between these two materials, with the rough, crumbly rammed earth complementing the smooth, sleek aluminum. The resulting form addresses both public and private gatherings, with the geometry of the curve creating a space to serve the public and the two apertures serving the individual.
