Hayden I. Bernhardt
Information
Hayden Bernhardt is currently pursuing a Master of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design, after graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech. He has experience working on a variety of projects, ranging from single-family residential to large-scale institutional projects.
During his time at Virginia Tech, Hayden was awarded the Helen and Walter H. Beal Scholarship for design and was a finalist in the Sculptural Objects and Functional Art Connect competition in Chicago, Illinois, where he and his team designed and built an interactive installation. His thesis, focused on the notions of “play” and “constructibility” in architecture, was a finalist for the Pella Prize, the school’s top recognition for excellence in undergraduate thesis design.
At Harvard's Graduate School of Design, Hayden has received both the Dean's Merit Scholarship and the GSD Merit Scholarship. He has served as a teaching assistant for the Core I and II studios and is currently a technical assistant in the Graduate School of Design Woodshop.
In his free time, Hayden enjoys riding his bike throughout the city, backpacking, thrifting and refurbishing designer furniture, and playing soccer.
