The Poetics of Play & Construction - 01 / 06
Fall 2019
The poetics and pragmatics of play offers a rich ground for architecture. In adulthood, we tend to fall into routines that weaken our sense of play. Whether aware or not, we often experience playful interactions in our daily routines. The most overlooked interactions are those with architecture. Architectural play can be expressed both through static moments and mobile movements. While buildings need to abide by specific rules, the details of the architecture can instigate a form of playfulness that animates a space. Through the combination of architectural details and the necessity of daily life, the individual and the architecture can engage in play.
