Voided Space

The Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design Fair in Chicago’s Navy Pier is the premier gallery-presented art fair dedicated to three-dimensional art and design, containing over 80 dealers and hosting over 35,000 attendees. Voided Space takes the visitors somewhere else, a place to momentarily step away from the busy convention, take a breath, think, and refresh. We filled this 24’ x 24’ space with occupiable columns arranged to be both structure and experience. Visitors become both the observer and the observed. Motion sensing lights create a trail of light as visitors pass by, recording a temporary trace of the past as well as creating a new path for others to explore.
